Training for CAT Officers

CAT officer is an adult who is above the age of 18 and who has volunteered to guide and support the CAT members. Only those who do not consume tobacco and are not associated with Tobacco Industry will be eligible to become a CAT Officer.

Normally, in a school the CAT officer will be a Teacher and in a community the CAT Officer will be an adult leader. CAT Officers are trained about CAT through Training of Trainers (TOT) programme.

Introductory Training Programme

The introductory level workshop is the basic entry point to the CAT movement. This is basic level training which introduces the participants about tobacco and the hazards of tobacco to the aspiring members. It also speaks about the purpose of their membership with CAT. Further an awareness is created about tobacco producing companies and the need to boycott any other product and services by these killer tobacco industries. A participation certificate will be issued in the end of the program, thus making them eligible to attend the Leadership level.

Successful completion of the introductory level of workshop is a prerequisite to become a CAT member. This introductory level training will be facilitated by CAT officer and Assistant CAT officer.

Leadership Training Programme

CAT Leadership Training is a workshop aimed at equipping the members with information on Anti-Tobacco Campaign and to be responsible citizens. This training is only for the CAT members. This leadership training aims to create responsible citizens with leadership qualities by providing opportunities to participate in tobacco eradication interventions. Here the children will be educated with detailed facts of tobacco, its ill effect on health and society. The children will also be enlightened on the various methods the tobacco industry employs to attract the younger generation to fall prey to their products. They are also trained on leadership skills so that they would become inspirational leaders working for a tobacco free world.
